Make-up Review: Makeup Academy Pro-Base Argan Plush Concealers

Assalamualaikum pretty ladies!

Back with another review for the concealers I bought from MUA. MUA and I, we go long back, they're basically the first brand that I bought internationally before I dare to buy other makeup brand, I always go back to their website because seriously, good quality makeup for good price is not something I usually pass.

This is their new concealers from their Pro Base range, I seriously can't remember how much I bought them for but it should be less than BND8! Yepp, they're that cheap.

You know what I had in mind when I ordered this, this would be perfect for cream contouring since they are creamy concealers and I thought the 2 shades I chose were basically lighter/darker than my skintone. I bought the shades Natural and Almond, Almond being the beige shade while Natural is a straight up a few shades lighter than my skintone.

Almost is basically a little bit more yellow-toned than I would have like, still a color that matches me for which, I used this to hide my blemishes., but I was able to make it work by setting it with a normal powder instead of translucent product. From the color that the online catalog showed, it seems to be a bit darker and I wanted to use this as a contour cream stick but unfortunately no.

Natural, however, has a lighter neutral tone and this is perfect for concealing my dark circles and under eye puffiness, also perfect for that non-shimmery highlighting.

Both this product has a very creamy and slippery at the same time, so this product does need a little bit of setting powder, once set this doesn't budge until your foundation starts to break up, so if you have a long-wearing foundation that works for you, this will perform as well as your foundation. I like that they are retractable but I really hate that since they are so creamy, the product is bound to fall of if you open it upside down. I've done this so many times that I almost give up on using this, sometimes.

They do mention that they contain argan oil which has amazing moisturizing properties, so this does not dry out the skin to where you apply this to, also may have been one of the major contributors of why it is so creamy and slippery.

Beauty Buys and Make-up Review: Makeup Academy

Assalamualaikum pretty ladies!

It's been a long time that I haven't purchase from Makeup Academy, there hasn't been many shout-outs from this brand ever since Makeup Revolution came into the scene and with this, I'll just put a disclaimer that it seems that Makeup Academy and Makeup Revolution are not sister brands. I do found that the products from Makeup Revolution are of more quality than Makeup Academy. But enough about that, here's a picture of the haul that I've made from Makeup Academy a few weeks ago.

I do need to stop hauling makeups, I bought more than I realized in just one month! So it's kinda straining my makeup reviews that I'm trying to line up on my blog.

Anyways, I bought pairs of the £1 lipsticks and blushes as I've actually felt that I need to try these out! I've been raving about this brand so much, it's so weird that I never bought their cheapest products! I'll get on with the reviews soon! I still have so much products to review, I've been such a bad girl!

But no worries, I'm sneaking in a mini review of these makeup brushes I bought from this brand, I basically bought their F9 and F2 face brushes and also their E3 eye brush. All of their brushes are synthetic and I really love the overall quality of these brushes as they really have soft bristles and no fall outs either.

F2 Stippling Face Brush

So this brush is said to give our face an airbrushed look by stippling in the foundation but what I do find is that it is taking a lot of work to achieve that and I usually give up and use other dense stippling brush to do my work but I'm not giving up on this brush, this is perfect for stippling in liquid or cream blush, or even highlighters, so I basically use this for those purpose only. But for stippling in foundation, I'll stick to Masumi Shouko's dense face brush

F9 Flat Top Buffer Brush

This is an interesting brush as I've never encountered this type of brush but this is perfect for applying contour or bronzer on your cheeks, I haven't try these with other base product but I've only used it with contouring and it really helps me with my contouring game. So this is a definite must-try for any contouring newbies!

E3 Eyeshadow Blending Brush

This is a lovely addition to my brush collection as I still have a little collection of eyebrushes, I hardly collect eyeshadow brushes even though I like to use them more than using other makeups because for any of my eyeshadow makeup routine, I always seem to find myself using my fingers as a tool for applying eyeshadows, but this is really lovely as it blends eyeshadow nicely.

Make-up Review: MUA Love Hearts Lip Balm in Hot Lips

Assalamualaikum pretty ladies!

A budget brand I usually love to shop for is definitely MUA! But since I am on a "eyeshadow palette" shopping ban. It gives me the incentive to buy and look out for more stuff to try from MUA and this is one of them! Though. looking at all of my products, I'd definitely need a "lip products" shopping ban as I seem to have a tray load of them.

I actually bought two of these, at first I wanted to keep both of them for me but I guess I realized I only have one set of lip, I gave it away during my mini giveaway. Although I'd give the product a lot more love.

I opened the Hot Lips lipbalm as I am drawn to its red color, I do fine this to be very pigmented for a lipbalm, but I won't go far as to say you can use this alone. Why? Because it really depends on the condition of your lips actually. I don't know how to explain this but sometimes it gives a sheer color to your lip and sometimes it gives a very nice pop of color. I guess when my lips are pigmented, it gives a sheer wash of red and when my lips are pale, the color would stand out.

I really love that it has that vanilla smell on it, though you won't really be able to taste the vanilla. It lasts about 2-3 hours on me, really depends on what I do that day. This product lasts long as I do use this everyday and I still haven't made a dent on it.

Although the texture is somewhat waxy, I still feel comfortable using this, though it doesn't really have any moisturizing properties except for the fact it seals your lip condition. I.E. it only protects instead of moisturize.

FOTD : It was just another wedding reception

Assalamualaikum pretty ladies!

Another FOTD and an inclusive ROTD (Ring of The Day), I won't be posting a lot of ROTD because I hardly have an extensive collection. So I might just use my next few pays to actually invest in some of these finger candies.

Went to a wedding reception of my cousin's cousin, I went there with my brother and little sister. I'm sorry about the picture below, it's only after the reception that I decided to take pictures, LOL!

In My Bag : My Updated Everyday Makeup Bag

Assalamualaikum pretty ladies!

I think I've been a very lazy blogger these days, for no good reasons actually, I've just been lazing off my lazy bum procrastinating on updating my blog consistently. I promised a post about my updated makeup bag which I bring almost every day if I ever go out  and this is for a little touch up.

My makeup bag's content has diminished to less than 10 items in it, as I find that I don't like to lug around a huge makeup bag and decided that to keep it at the bare necessity.

I brought my MUA eyeliner, lipstain, a lipstick/cream that I use for the day, Missha's lip palette which I found useful as not only they are so pigmented, they are useful to switch colors, a sample BB Cream, concealer palette and that small pot is a lipstick that I've depotted as the packaging was faulty and can't be twisted up.

There are times that my makeup is flawed, i.e my eyelining skill can get me in trouble for not being so precise and consistent on both eyes, a little too thick or a little too thin on one of the eyes. So it's good that you need a back up to

Also concealing palette for when my concealers need a little of touch up. I hardly need to touch up my blush, so I decided not to bring any, even if I need to, I could just use the lipstain from Holika Holika to replace as my blush. I also bring a compact powder which I forgot to take a picture of.

I'm going to post a few In My Bag posts, this time when I'm staying in a hotel, I'll have a few posts on it as it really matters where you're staying to actually bring some of your makeup and skincare item.

Hope you like this post, tell me what you bring in your makeup bag.

Make-up Review : MUA Professional Palette in Undressed

Assalamualaikum pretty ladies!

I'm one of those girls who doesn't like to really go on to any makeup cult bandwagon as sometimes they don't live up to their hype *Revlon Lip Butter, yes, I'm talking about you..* I don't even get sucked in from the most talked product, the Urban Decay Primer Potion as I think my MUA Primer and Essence Eyeshadow Base suffice in terms of giving vibrant colors to my eyeshadows and prolongs eyeshadow wear.

So, I was actually interested in buying the Naked/Naked2 palette but as I am on a college budget, I don't think I'd be able to afford any high-end brands, so I decided that a dupe from a drugstore/online brand isn't such a bad thing as it just sets me back for $8 only.

To Bruneian readers, this is drugstore brand from UK, it has very cheap cosmetics with a good quality despite the price tag. It's something that really takes beauty blogger by the horn, I think this is a cult product that's worth investing in as their eyeshadow palettes are the ones that really does well.

Undressed palette is said to be a close dupe to the Naked Palette, please correct me if I'm wrong. So many had blogged about this. I was a bit apprehensive and contemplated on buying it as I don't really like cult products so much.

I'm not going to move on and describe the shades as I find it hard to actually describe colors but as for now, my favorite would be Shade 2 and Shade 8. I even like to match those two shades together. I have no problem with their pigmentation except for the matte shades (Shade 3 and Shade 5), although I can get a little pigmentation with Shade 5, no matter how much I try to layer the Shade 3, it is still invisible and doesn't even transfer a lot of pigments. Other than that, I like the creaminess of the shimmery shadows as I find them to apply nicely and also have never experience any fallouts in their shimmery shadows.

As you can see below, I actually found a dupe from Shade 12 of the Undressed palette with Shade 3 from the Starry Night palette, although it seems a little darker in tone, it really look similar to each other in real life.

About this palette, I still prefer my Heaven and Earth palette as it has more neutral shadows than Undressed. To me, Undressed has little neutral shadows and it might be suitable for darker looks and transition from day to night looks. So overall, it's still a nice palette to have. And I don't have to spend a lot of bucks on the Naked palette too! :D

Make-up Review : MUA Professional Eye Primer

Assalamualaikum pretty ladies!

I am pretty content with my Essence Eyeshadow Base, but I did order this earlier before I found Essence. It costs me around B$5? So I am definitely not missing out in anything as it is almost the same price as Essence's Eyeshadow Base, only cheaper by 90 cents, but who's counting really? lol.

A creamy consistency, a nude color doesn't really transfer any color to your lids, giving you an invisible canvas to your eyelids.

I somehow dislike the stickiness it gives, this primer, but I think it was fairly useful to bind the shimmers together,

A poor color choice in my part, I should've used other palettes to highlight the effectiveness of this primer even if it is sticky. But it does really make your eyeshadows more pigmented, even when I use my Revlon five-eyeshadow pallete with the primer, it does enhance the pigmentation.

A repurchase? Maybe, but I love my Essence Eyeshadow base more, so I'd definitely use this once in a while to finish off the product.

Make-up Review : MUA Professional Primer

Assalamualaikum pretty ladies!

I'm on a roll here, giving out reviews in one day (of course I would put it on scheduled mode) I think I've made enough for one month, yeay me for not procrastinating LOL!

I'm always looking for a great primer to replace my expensive but holy grail primer, Holika Holika Silky Veil Primer, unfortunately I'm unable to post up a review of it due to no stock availability, I'm planning to buy it next month and it'll be my 3rd tube, yes, I love it by that much!

I don't really have high hopes for this one as it only cost me B$8 and it is not available in my country, so it's not something I'd love to have as a HG item due to the difficulty of grabbing it.

A nice squeeze tube, the size of this primer is so small, I was hoping that it was bigger in real life, oh well.

It has this lovely milky gel texture, it blends into your skin without leaving any tint at all, it just leaves a nice smooth finish on your skin, though it takes a lot of products to create the velvety smooth finish, but I like to squeeze out as little as I can.

This, I don't think make your makeup last longer, by noon, I have caked foundations on the side of my nose, not an attractive sight at all. So I would definitely use this mostly during Syawal Celebraton at home, as I can touch up as much as I want to.

Make-up Review : MUA Professional Extreme Eyeliner Pen

Assalamualaikum pretty ladies!

MUA cosmetics, if you've never heard before is actually a brand that comes from UK delivering good quality make-up for a small price. I've bought a handful of products from MUA, with help of my friend who is currently studying there (and she's back in Brunei for the semester break), she bought and brought the order I've made all the way to Brunei and I can't thank her enough! I am still waiting for my Sleek haul, which is still in UK but I know in matter of days, it'll be here soon! :D

So anyways, I've bought a felt tip eyeliner pen, though I will be careful with these as the Essence eyeliner pen didn't pan out well for me.

This pen is pigmented and very black, it gives of a nice crisp line for the perfect winged eye look. This is a love for me, I really love how easy it is to apply this and the felt tip is, although precise but it's not sharp when you accidentally poke your eyelids, lol.

But this eyeliner pen fails me, not only it is not waterproof, it is also not smudge-proof, so this might not be a great choice for all of us, but with a primer, it will definitely last longer though it doesn't help with the smudge-proof properties. But who am I to criticize this pen? It only costs me B$2 :D

Random Ranting : MUA HAUL!

Random Ranting : Make Up Academy

 Assalamualaikum,

So today I'm telling you guys all about this brand I've been fantasizing to grab. If this were to exist in Brunei, I believer there would be a higher marked-up prices for at least 300%! Believe me, they've already done that to ELF Cosmetic. If you translate a USD1.50 ELF product into BND, it is roughly around B$2.10, but however, some ELF product of that price can actually cost us B$7-8? It's disappointing that ELF cosmetics are expensive for it's cheap-looking packaging. So only choice is that you'd have to order it online.

Now, in UK, there's a cheap but quality-raved brand that's been storming up. What I like about this brand is that, it ships WORLDWIDE. What I like about them is that, they are VERY CHEAP! I'm featuring all the eyeshadow trios, quads and palettes here, but then, these prices are unbeatable!

These are the MUA Professional Trio Eyeshadows, altogether there are 7 of them, price is GBP2.50 each, which is about B$4.75, for three colors, they are very affordable, even Silkygirl can't beat the price for MUA! I've seen their reviews and from what I can tell, these are very much worth the price. Very pigmented and satin-y in texture. I got my eyes on Pink Sorbet, Smoke Screen and Chocolate Box. But I'd love to buy ALL of them, if only I have the budget to ship them to Brunei.

Then, here's the eyeshadow quads, aren't they awesome? I definitely am lemming for the Go Getter and Smokin Quad, but it would definitely be nice to have them ALL! And all of these are for GBP3 each, converting it to around B$5.97 each. Silkygirl still is unable to catch up to their price!

At last, the 12-Shadow palettes! Except for Immaculate's GBP8 24-shadow pallete, each of these MUA's Professional Palette costs up to GBP4! Come on! Isn't that very cheap? And of course, I have this attraction to neutral colors, Heaven and Earth palette, though with helps of a friend, I might buy all of these palettes. Well, I may not buy the Immaculate palette though.
