Assalamualaikum pretty ladies!
So here I am with the Matte Bright palette review first, just to tease you girls before I go on and review the neutral palette from Makeup Revolution, Iconic 3, which is said to be a dupe for Naked 3. I love looking at Urban Decay's products but for personal reasons, I have decided to boycott myself from buying their products :( believe me, it wasn't an easy decision.
Moving on from that, let's get on to the review, I think this is a new makeup brand that has emerged to be the new budget brand, I really love their choices of eyeshadow palette as they seem to have an abundance of it. The palettes are slightly bigger than the likes of Sleek, MUA and Technic palettes. And somehow, in just an overnight period, they seem to be releasing more new products and I am one happy bunny when there is more eyeshadow palettes to buy, nyehehehe!
The eyeshadows are in a strip arrangement, just like the Naked line's palette, at first I was hesitant to buy these palettes because I assumed they would be very thin and I'm the kind of girl who loves to apply eyeshadows just using my fingers and it might not fit my fatty fingers. But fortunately, they are wide enough to fit my ring finger.
You can actually see the swatches with and without primer, I find that with primer, it helps the texture and the pigmentation itself. I find the electric blue to be utterly useless, I guess I don't mind since I have too many blues in my collection. The one that I really like is the grey eyeshadow, the texture is quite creamy than the rest of them, some are a bit chalky, some are powdery. The palette itself requires a lot f work as I find it hard to blend them when I use them as a crease color for a pop of color, using these to line underneath your eyes is easy, but blending it is a little hard.
Overall, I would give this palette a so-so rating, maybe because they are bright matte colors so it might be hard to make sure they are spot on. I might just give up on buying bright matte colors after this, lol.
The colors look so vibrant with primer! That sucks that they're not easily blendable though.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't mind me asking, what are your reasons for boycotting Urban Decay?
☮ ♡ :) melli
Oh man, also a so-so review of the brights from another person! I was really hoping this would be good...maybe, maybe Sleek is the way to go for brights? I used my Iconic 3 again tonight, still love it XD but I realized that some of the shimmery ones are harder to pack with natural hair brushes ._. but the mattes are easier to work with.
ReplyDeleteMakeup Rev is just releasing SO MANY PRODUCTS!! I really want some of their stuff again...but none of them are needs right now~
I love looking at UD products too...but I realized that their shadows crease on me ._. nda ngam lah their products with me. Not so impressed with all three palettes I have from them. So, not planning on buying from them anymore (also kinda angry still that they're with L'oreal).
I think I know why you are boycotting them... ( u_u ) I am trying to refrain from buying Maybelline and Revlon (but locally ._. is....ok nya urang) but NO MORE. Liyn told me about the Inked in Pink Color Tattoo bejual sini, so I got it ._. to use with Iconic 3.
BUT NO MORE.
lol panjang cerita. I hope you're liking Iconic 3 too!
Hahaha. It's okay. I do have the Sleek's Ultra Matte Bright palette, they are definitely dupes but I haven't tried it yet, but it will be reviewed soon. The Iconic 3, I do have a problem with just one of their eyeshadows as it is too sheer, hardly packed any pigmentation but it does fare well as a highlight, so not all is lost.
DeleteThe boycott will be easy if we don't need them, honestly, do we need more makeup? No, but we want them :p but at least there's a lot of brand that we don't have to boycott :D
The Iconic 3 I find that it works better with the fingers (need to find a better brush for it) but yeah, it's like wasting my time if I try to pack it on with the brush, especially the pinker sides (I'm curious to know if we have the same problem with the same shade lol). The darker sides are fine for me. But every time I do use my fingers, I am in love with it again.
DeleteYeah, that's true! I find that I've been loving Etude products a lot more so maybe not all is lost. I think I'm done with my shopping for the rest of the year (although I still wanna try Rimmel's matte primer lol)
I really am looking forward to the Sleek Ultra Matte Bright review coz if not Makeup Rev's, I am eyeing that (maybe not now though LOL)
