Assalamualaikum pretty ladies!
Let's have a drumroll for my first ever review for a brand that I've been lusting over... *drumrolls*
Sleek Makeup!!
So anyways, I have absolutely been obsessed with eyeshadow palettes and Sleek, however, caters to all of my obsessions. It's a little bit hard to obtain anything from Sleek as it is actually a UK brand.
It is more expensive than MUA but still on the affordable side. I was gutted that they didn't carry on with their waffle prints because I think that's what makes them special and more wanted. Now that they've turned to the usual pressed look, I guess there's not much anticipation to them anymore, I would've lusted over ALL OF THEIR PALETTES but then, I don't feel so excited anymore of wanting to collect them, maybe I will collect their blush palettes as I do love me some blush palettes. I currently don't have any blush palettes, lol.
Anyways, this is the Sleek Au Naturel palette, one of the neutral palettes they offered. I lost the plastic film so I won't be able to label all of the colours. The swatches seems unpromising but they do have lovely colours though the matte finish shadows are a bit of a let down, the darker mattes are pigmented enough but they are just hard for me to blend. The shimmery shadows, which are just 4 of them, they apply like a dream. They blend nicely.
The lighter matte shadows aren't so pigmented, but it can be build up, I like to use the lighter matte shadows as an overall lid colours. And I do use the dark brown matte colour as my eyebrow filler and it does make a great job as an eyebrow filler, I hardly draw my brows, I usually fill in my brows on where there are a few sparse spots.
This is a nice palette to have though I pretty much prefer my MUA palettes than these but overall a good palette. I might just want to try out the Storm or Original palette.
I've got a couple of Sleek palettes and I find them quite disappoilting. Of course they are very pigmented and so on, but the shimmery shades go on way tooo frosty and patchy and the biggest problem is that the shades within the palette don't match and i find it quite difficult to create a look using one palette (I'm talking about the dark matte one, but this is the issue with other palettes as well).
ReplyDeleteI think the only palettes that seems to be ok to create a look using a palette will be this one, Storm or Original palette.
Deletethis would be my next sleek palette! so pretty!

Your review on the Sleek Dark Matte palette is very tempting!
DeleteI think the waffle one is the new formula :/ I got the same one without the waffle prints and the pigmentation was not good! If you look at their site, the Au Naturel has the waffle print :T looking up other reviews and comparing the swatches, there's definitely some difference! I dunno if Luxola carries the Waffle Au Naturel or what. When my cousin got me mine, she said it was one of the older version (the packaging had like plastic tape and stuff lol)
ReplyDeleteI love using the yellow shade over Mac Paint Pot in Soft Ochre, it's really similar and sets it well.
Noir (the black shade) is definitely a let down on mine. It was dry and patchy D:

DeleteIf you want a reference to the shadow names lol it's on here
The waffle-printed shadows were the OLD PACKAGING. I don't know if there's any difference in the formula though.
DeleteIf that's the old packaging then they messed up the formula then. Because it seems like the "new one" is less pigmented if you look it up.
DeleteWhen I was writing my review, I was looking up the difference because I saw that it seemed like there were two. Nougat definitely looked different. And all the waffle printed one looked waaaaay better, without eyeshadow base.
So they definitely messed it up. I assumed mine was old because it was less pigmented.
Lol, I guess so, I still can use the matte shades even though it's not so pigmented. I'm a big fan of Sleek palettes, so I do follow almost every reviews of these baby. I know the waffle-prints are the old ones, and the pressed one are new. I know the pigmentation isn't there because I just reviewed it.
DeleteThe waffle-print palettes in the Sleek's website is basically old stock photos, I don't think they updated some of the palettes with the new pressed look.
DeleteSLEEEKKKKK~! HEHE nice review~ the shades look nice and I want to try the bright palette; i-Divine Ultra Matte V1 & i-candy one ^^
ReplyDeleteme mau bali the bright matte jua! hehehe.
DeleteAhh Sleek! I've been wanting to try that brand as well. I didn't know they got rid of the waffle print. :( The colors looks nice though. :)
