Assalamualaikum pretty ladies!
I'm back from Singapore! Well, I'm a month late of posting this blog post. I didn't get to take a lot pictures as I am either overwhelmed or either way too cramped to take pictures. It's a little early to tell you girls this but I'm officially a CEO for this company I am eager to built and develop, Zestberry Technologies!
So that's the reason why I'm being sent to Singapore for an exposure trip to see how the industry is all about! Also, joining the Innovfest Forum, d'oh. Here's a few pictures that I did get to take pictures and the ones that I'm willing to show it here.
On Day 1 was awesome, I did have a little mishap of pulled muscles, blisters and feet cramps, but I didn't care, I want to do more of exploring so we did go to Orchard Road spending time there, I did bought a beg-purse kind of thing for the dinner held on Tuesday.
At night, we went to Orchard Xchange and had our dinner at Popeye's, I tell you, the chicken is good! I wish I did take more pictures but I found my phone to be too bulky to whip it up, so none :( We also went to Mustapha Center in Little India around 11pm, I went there just to get some socks, bandage support and a hair comb. A few necessities that I need during my trip, not my idea of shopping! LOL. And I found that Little India is not so hygienic because I was dying to go to the toilet in the center, I found a big lump of poop of the size of a large plate on one of the toilet stalls! EW! That was enough to make me puke.
When we wanted to go back to our hotel, it was already late, around 12.30AM, so taxis are hard to come by and we wanted to take a taxi that would take the 7 of us, so of course we're looking for a big taxi. Then our friend, who is of Indian descent was approached by an Indian driver, I didn't hear any gist of it because I was a little bit far away from him. Then our friend decided to follow the driver to his van and so the rest of us just went along on his trail. It was kinda scary because we went to 2 dark alleys and I said to my friend who is, say, the one that supervises the organization that incubates our company, "you better protect me if something bad is happening"
He was, later I found out, a gypsy taxi driver so finally after walking for a couple of blocks, we found a line of parked vans, this was scary, although it wasn't so dark, we didn't know what we're getting into. I was afraid that gang members would show themselves up from the parked vans! But Alhamdulillah, we were safe, although the van that the gypsy driver has is a little funky. Stickers all over the interior, zebra and tiger prints on our seats, mini fans as air-conditioning, a freakin' disco ball in front.
It was risky but it does somehow raised the bar for going to Singapore, I'm not sure I'll experience something like that again if I ever go to Singapore again. LOL!
On Day 2, however, the day was tamer then what we had on our first day since it's the day that the Innovfest forum starts, I had a wonderful time there and there was a lot of genius ideas and takeaways that I received! We did have a celebration dinner for the forum as well, there was some inspiring speeches as well, the dinner was kinda funny because it was my first time of seeing someone so tipsy.
After leaving the dinner around 9pm, we went out and walked to Clarkes Quay which is very near to our hotel. I loved the place as it has a vibrant environment and some quirky lighting, we also went to a bar because our friends who are non-Muslims wanted to get a few shots before moving on to other parts of the place, it was kinda awkward for me as I was wearing a hijab and I actually stepped into a bar. I was going to order a fruit punch because it was put in a non-alcoholic menu, but a friend warned me that it might pack a few "punches". So I just ordered a can of Sprite just to make sure it's not tainted with alcohol.
I watched my friends taking tequila shots and I was intrigued by what I saw, I did smell the scent of the tequila shots, I found them to smell so icky, although I don't have any problems of people drinking it, I do wonder WHY they drink something that smells so icky. Haha.
Day 3 was also tame and tamer than Day 2 since I asked my friends that they should accompany me to Plaza Singapura as I did to them when we go to Orchard Road and didn't even buy a single thing there that would satisfy my shopping desires, LOL! I didn't shop for myself though, I only shopped for my mom's wishlist because she wanted to buy the hard candies from Lollytalk. The shop assistant was flabbergasted by how much I bought and gave me way too much freebies.
On our last day, we went to Ayer Rajah for a work visit to the incubation centre there. I met with Sze Ming from Gamurai, I had a little crush on him just because he was very sweet and very tall! LOL, we did went to incubation studio for Games Solution Center and also Playstation Studio, which was such a privilege, though we didn't get to go inside Playstation Studio because it was a top secret kinda place.
So, I guess all the things I bought in Singapore was either necessities or food, but the one that I bought for myself and such a non-necessity was this makeup brush travel set from Ecotools! I love the brushes, so smooth and fluffy.
I guess I rambled on more than I planned to, so hoped you like my post! Again, I apologize for the lack of pictures despite the awesome experience I had. Oh and btw, I have a dayre account, you can check out my username
imahaziz91. I do find it neater and more convenient to blog there instead of searching for time to blog here.
