Drama Review : Dae Janggeum

Assalamualaikum pretty ladies!

So today, I'm starting the post a little differently by reviewing a drama, I know I'm not a good critic for dramas and movies, but I love to show my opinions about it and also to tell you what I like or dislike in these kind of things, I'm a big fan of Korean dramas especially historical dramas.

Sypnosis:

"About 500 years ago during the time of Chosun Dynasty, Korea boasted a rigidly hierarchical and male dominated social structure. Set in this period, "Jewel in the Palace" is based on a true story about a legendary girl (Jang Geum) who became the first woman to be the supreme royal physician of her times. Despite her poor condition as a low class girl in the male dominated society, Jang Geum overcame a series of social discrimination and landed herself as a royal cook, later becoming the royal physician, then ultimately the physician in charge of the king. She was even given by the king the title "The Great Jang Geum." The story of her checkered life on her success and breakdown as well as her love story beautifully unfold. "Jewel in the Palace" is sure to touch your heart"

My Opinion:

I've seen this drama before when I was an adolescent, at that time, I wasn't interested in this drama but I did follow up a few of the episodes. After a few years, when I remembered about this movie, I tried to find it as I do want to find out the ending and better yet, I want to see it from the beginning, I tried to download it from torrent as I am no big fan of direct downloading, as Brunei is more notoriously known for having a very slow internet speed.

So I didn't really manage to find the torrent, but then my friend who has a business in finding this kind of thing, has Dae Janggeum! What else can I do except to take it from him, of course with permission! LOL.

So anyways, for each episode, you have an hour and a few minutes worth of episodes and this drama has a total of 54 episode, so there's around 60-70 hours spent to watch. LOL. But all in all, this is a drama that is worth watching, it's very interesting finding out about their culture in the past, also the lifestyle.

I find the actors are very good in what they're doing as they are able to make the audience create emotions of whatever scene they make, the villains, I found to be very hateful, very annoying that it felt like I want to slap the villain's face a few time.

Although, I find the heroin is very soft-spoken, I wish my voice is like that, but no, I have a harsh voice, though many people said that I have an angelic soft-spoken voice but with a sharp tongue. LOL!

So anyways, the storyline is very flaw-less, there are a few of the storyline that doesn't really make sense, but overall I really enjoy watching this, I even go for a second round watching this drama.

Out of 5, I could give this 4.78.

A must watch!

In My Bag : My Updated Everyday Makeup Bag

Assalamualaikum pretty ladies!

I think I've been a very lazy blogger these days, for no good reasons actually, I've just been lazing off my lazy bum procrastinating on updating my blog consistently. I promised a post about my updated makeup bag which I bring almost every day if I ever go out  and this is for a little touch up.

My makeup bag's content has diminished to less than 10 items in it, as I find that I don't like to lug around a huge makeup bag and decided that to keep it at the bare necessity.

I brought my MUA eyeliner, lipstain, a lipstick/cream that I use for the day, Missha's lip palette which I found useful as not only they are so pigmented, they are useful to switch colors, a sample BB Cream, concealer palette and that small pot is a lipstick that I've depotted as the packaging was faulty and can't be twisted up.

There are times that my makeup is flawed, i.e my eyelining skill can get me in trouble for not being so precise and consistent on both eyes, a little too thick or a little too thin on one of the eyes. So it's good that you need a back up to

Also concealing palette for when my concealers need a little of touch up. I hardly need to touch up my blush, so I decided not to bring any, even if I need to, I could just use the lipstain from Holika Holika to replace as my blush. I also bring a compact powder which I forgot to take a picture of.

I'm going to post a few In My Bag posts, this time when I'm staying in a hotel, I'll have a few posts on it as it really matters where you're staying to actually bring some of your makeup and skincare item.

Hope you like this post, tell me what you bring in your makeup bag.

Make-up Review : Maybelline Baby Lip Color Lip Balm in Pink Lolita

Assalamualaikum pretty ladies

This is my first tinted lip balm review from Maybelline, I really love Maybelline's lipbalm, it's one of those cult products I've ever loved, I've bought a few backups from their line of Baby Lips Lipbalm as I find them to be very moisturizing.

I don't know if this is available in Brunei, but in Miri this is available in Guardian and Watson.

They have the same packaging as their un-tinted lipbalm range, although this is a tinted lipbalm, when applied to your bare lips, it won't transfer a lot of pigmentation, but then, I have a very pigmented lips. But I realized that if I apply lip stain on my lips before the lipbalm, it would amplify the color of the lip stain. It's weird though, when I wore a pink lip stain with this, the color goes more towards coral. If I wear an orange lip stain, the color is pink. Weird.

I didn't bother to show you the swatch as it doesn't show any pigment on the back of my hand, as I do have a dark skin. Don't trust my FOTDs for looking fair, that's just the illusion of lightings. LOL.

So anyways, this is really a moisturizing lipbalm that really sinks into your lips and this does great for days I don't want to wear lipsticks, just lipstain and lipbalm.

FOTD : Something to test things with

Assalamualaikum pretty ladies!

Sorry, today I'd be only posting an FOTD, but I definitely will be getting onto the reviews next time. LOL!

In My Bag : First-Aid

Assalamualaikum pretty ladies!

I must say, this is the first time my pictures are of good quality, too bad my room doesn't have any sunlight coming in, I was actually in the car waiting for my dad to finish up his business at a government building.

I seriously love the lighting, I think I'll be taking pictures and swatches when no one's home or when I'm out and about with good sunlight, LOL! So anyways, you've seen the first aid pouch from the last post of In My Bag edition, and as time goes, I've added a few stuffs in, including a toe cream for my pre-surgery and I'd still need to use it until in such time my toe is completely healed, FYI, I had an ingrown toenail and it has been going on for 4 months now, I'm not the type to be all scared and worried if I'm sick, heck, if I had a flu or something, I sometimes ignore it and get on with my everyday life and do what needs to be done instead of resting, which is not recommended for all of you if you're the resting type.

But I am the kind of girl who really doesn't have the time or the energy to even give in to my sicknesses, so I've always been active though I don't really have a strong stamina, lol! So anyways, that ingrown toenail, at first it was a silly excess nail that I forgot to clip and in turn, it grows and pierced my flesh secreting pus or "nanah" and it's been going on for a few months until it get serious that no one, not even me can touch that toe as it becomes sensitive.

Had a few appointment with a podiatry, and had a surgery to cut out the nail. The anesthetic shot hurts a lot! LOL, I found the surgery to be.. weirdly awesome, LOL! Because I felt numb and didn't even feel any pain from the surgery because of the anesthetic and it felt like the doctor was actually cutting up some sort of rubber on my toe. And they gave me the cut up toe nail, that I won't be showing here, as it is disgusting. But I found out that the reason it hurt for a long time is because the side of the nails have curved inward thus causing acute pains.

So that went out and slightly curved from the purpose of this post, lol, anyways, I've always have a few bandages inside the pouch, as an accident-prone person, this comes in handy. Nail clipper, as sometimes there would be a time that I'd felt "dirty" and wanted to clip my nails, so yeah, it's a must for me. Also the toe cream which I rarely used and didn't listen to the doctor's prescription. And the aromatherapy oil, that I've bought a few weeks ago, it is very useful for sore throats, headaches and nose blockage, I even used this when I had an acute gastric pain, although it wasn't meant for gastric pains at least it help me to go through the pain. Eyemo eye drops, a basic necessity for all contact lens users.

Next in the beauty department is the tinted lip balm from Maybelline, which I dearly love so much! I try to take up a review on this soon! Also Missha's hand cream, it didn't quite fit into the pouch so I decided to transfer the whole tube into a smaller plastic bottle, which is squeeze-able, and then Miss Natasha perfume oil, it has been in my collection for sometime now, I don't really love the smell, because it has a high intense sickly sweet smell, but when used accordingly will smell nicely. Then a travel perfume bottle, I poured my favorite scent into it, which is the Victoria's Secret Body Mist in Mango Temptation.

I hope you like my post, so comment below if you'd like me to make another post of my updated make-up bag or a travelling make-up bag, thanks for reading!

Makeup Review : Essence Sun Club Bronzer for Blonds

Assalamualaikum pretty ladies!

I'm on the road for recovery as I've just went through my surgery yesterday, Alhamdulillah it went well.

This is a friend's bronzer but I'm lucky enough to wear it out for a day and give you a review for my first ever bronzer review.

I've never really dared to buy bronzers, only because I never really know how to use and most people I've seen from tutorials, used it to have that sunkissed tan look, hardly for contouring, I'm basically blessed with a tan all-year round, why bother, I say. But when my friend bought it and let me test it too, I think I'm sold.

This bronzer is basically for blondes or lighter/pale skin. As I'm neither, I wasn't sure if this was going to show up on me as the color of this bronzer looks like my compact powder.

As you can see, it really is very light for my skintone and I can pass this ups as my setting powder, but with much heavy-handed application, I was able to contour my cheeks and my nose to give a more structured look, heck, I look 5 pounds thinner, lol.

The texture is very nice, not so powdery, almost to the point of creamy. I would definitely buy the brunette version, which is basically a darker version of this bronzer. The bronzer lasts all night when I wore it, it is something I'd definitely use. A cheap matte bronzer for everyday's use.

Personal Pictures : My December so far

Assalamualaikum pretty ladies!

So I think I feel like I need some time off from updating about beauty and just update about what happened in my personal life. I'll soon be having a surgery tomorrow, InshaAllah, it won't disturb my blog posting as it will only be an outpatient surgery. But anyways, when December comes, it was a weekend and all I can say is that I started my December with an awesome time with my two lovely friends.

A FOTD for your girls, I didn't wear a lot of makeup. Unfortunately, the camera washed out my blush and my first ever look using a bronzer.

This is on our first day, we went to Time Square and Airport Mall, I had my first Sharetea, I've seen people in  Instagram and Facebook going crazy over this drink "Wintermelon with Rock Salt and Cheese" I must say it's one of those savory drinks that I really love! I tried the Cocoa version too, but this is much better.

Also, I've watched Pitch Perfect and it was awesome! I love their renditions of those songs, I think I'll watch it again soon, lol. Though I think Brittany Snow doesn't fit as a redhead gal.

The next day, we went to Techxpo in ICC, I didn't take pictures while in there, as I was so excited with all the offers there, there's new laptops from Asus, I wish I can afford a new laptop, LOL. Also, there were new Android phones from Huawei, a brand that is always associated with B-Mobile, the phones are very tempting, but the fact that I have to buy a new line with it, is just not what I currently want, I still love my DST line.

We went off to Taman Jubilee, I haven't been to Taman Jubilee ever since I was 9-10 and I'm 21 now, but it's nice that the place is under good maintenance. We had fun taking pictures, playing with the swings and slides, we felt like kids again! LOL, it was a nice sentiment.

The next alternate day, we all went to Tasek Lama, a nice brisk walk around the park and up the hill, lol. I tell you, I lack stamina so by the time we reached the top, my head was throbbing. LOL.

Then a nice refreshing coconut drink, yum!

Personal Post : Baking

Assalamualaikum pretty ladies!

This is a non-beauty related post, so I hope you enjoy!

For the past few days, I've been baking and this is somewhat an achievement as I've never baked before and I hate baking! LOL.

We are famous in our circle of family and friends for making one of the best homemade pizzas, but I didn't bake these, I just  like to show it off here because it's a Tuna Pizza, I didn't even have a slice as I'm not a big fan of seafood, I ate a slice of Pepperoni Hawaiian-inspired pizza, it was delish, my little brother made it, let the XY genes handle the pizzas.

Then we've made the nutella cupcakes, it's a little dry on top, but the crust that it formed made it more delicious as there's two texture in it. Soft and crusty, yum! These are my first cupcakes that I've made,  sad isn't it? But at least it's that good :D

Tried to top it with the nutella spread, darn it's so sweet, I won't recommend it to the kids.

The next day, we made mini pavlovas and teamed up with some whipping cream on top, it tastes delicious as the pavlova is too sweet and the whipped cream are just bland, so it creates a quite nice chemistry.

Hahaha, tried to work the nutella cupcake with the whipping cream, but no, didn't work, tasted like you've dipped milk into the cupcake.

Then the next day, we've made another batch of mini pavlovas, this time, I used a piping bag to design the pavlovas.

A cute meme-like picture from a friend of mine, it's her son in the picture, I've actually posted about him a few weeks ago, I like his expression, it really looks like he was salivating looking at the pavlovas, LOL. For non-Malays, this basically means "Aii, pavlova. Aunty Dna, can I have some?"

Oh just so you know, most people won't recognize me as Imah or call me Imah, it's a nickname from amongst my family, so my friends and lecturers actually called me Dna as in (Dee-Ann-Ay) by pronouncing the letters. Weird right? I don't even know how to redeem myself to stop people from calling me a childish nickname.

So these pavlovas, I've play around with the piping bag and since I don't really like the taste of the whipping cream, we decided to make durian cream, basically, durian flesh blends into the whipped cream. It's very yummy, up with the fruits' seasons, a way to use the durians.

This is a big pavlova my mom made, covered with the durian cream. YUM!

Make-up Review : IN2IT Retractable Eyeliner in 01 Black

Assalamualaikum pretty ladies!

I think we all have a penchant for black eyeliners, I hardly have a pencil liner as I prefer retractable eyeliners, so far I've bought another Silkygirl retractable gel liner which has awesome pigmentation but low lasting power, but I'll try to get on the reviews with that soon, InshaAllah.

I bought this for RM11+, very affordable as I think it was on sale, I was trying to actually find a replacement for my Essence's black longlasting pencil, which is very impossible, as nothing can beat the performance of that particular black pencil.

I have a fondness for retractable pencils, as I don't really like the normal pencils that needs sharpening, which explains why most of my pencils that needs sharpening isn't being loved and used by me, so definitely won't buy any of that.

The colors are acceptably pigmented, the texture is creamy and dries to a semi-matte finish, I've tried using this on my waterline, tightlining and on my lash line. It doesn't last long on my waterline, at least for 2-3 hours? I haven't tried setting it with a black eyeshadow, but nevertheless, my eyes are watery, so I think its rather useless, however it does stay unmoved over my lash line, using it to create a cat eye line.

Although, if you didn't set it with eyeshadow, it would definitely smudge onto your undereyes. A fairly acceptable product that I might not ever repurchase.
